Dear Virginia Division Members:
As many of you are aware, the Virginia Division has undertaken the
conservation of the Crenshaw Battery Battle Flag as a project honoring the
Sesquicentennial of the War Between the States. The Virginia Division came into
possession of this flag when the Lee Home for Soldiers in Richmond closed. In
recent years, the flag has been displayed at the Warren Rifles Memorial
Museum in Front Royal.
An informative Historical Program on this conservation project has been
attached in anticipation that you would use it at one of your upcoming
monthly meetings. It is a perfect way to raise the awareness of all our Sisters
across Virginia about this project.
The Special Committee in honor of the ‘150th Anniversary of the War
Between the States’ was appointed to undertaken fundraising for this project. To
date, over $1,600 has been donated or pledged.
At our 2014 Division Convention, we challenged each Virginia chapter to
donate just $1.00 per member. Please consider accepting this challenge soon.
Checks should be made out to “Treasurer, Virginia Division UDC” with a
notation indicating that the funds are for the “Crenshaw Battery Flag Project”
and may be mailed to:
Sandra Wright 16463 Horseshoe Lane, Beaverdam, VA 23015-1235
Additionally, if you need more information on the project, the Committee
members are standing by to support you.
